Questions Modi’s app is not asking

with 5 comments

Quoting and building up from Indian Express’s article here are the questions Modi’s app is not asking

  • Has someone’s father / mother / brother died standing in queue or due to non admittance into a hospital?
  • I wiped out 50 Billion USD out of 1,000 Billion USD black economy in India i.e. 5%? Do you think that cost payoff was worth it?
  • Could I have done things differently?
  • Could I have sent mobile banking vans for 600 million people who have never entered the bank?
  • Do you have any money with you now?
  • How long have you had to stand in the queues before you could withdraw/exchange some of your money?
  • Are the ATMs/ banks in your locality being steadily supplied with cash?
  • Did you have to forego any potential opportunity pertaining to career/personal life due to the currency shortage?
  • Do you think the move should have been implemented in a phased manner?
  • Has the move disrupted your regular routine?
  • Whom do you think the move has affected the most in the hierarchal ladder of India’s economy? The rich, the middle class or the poor?
  • Are you finding it difficult to use the new currency of Rs 2,000 ?
  • Have I modified the behaviour of black money hoarders permanently ?
  • Will they hoard Rs 2,000 notes now next year from thei 1,000 Billion USD income?
  • Did I execute poorly?
  • Am I a human rights offender?
  • Have I pulled the wool over people’s eyes with an app survey and some psychological traps?

  1. Dear Sir,

I am a regular reader of your blog and your blogs has been a source of food for my mind. This blog too ask very good questions that modi’s app is not asking. You know it more than me/us which psychological tricks modi is using to help people bear this difficult time. Change demands pain and one thing that we know from studying history is maximum suffering happens at the ground. My opinion is that those people who are dying are not because of demonatization, it is because they are poor. Poverty is the biggest curse one can bear.
One can think of any policy or rule that was given, ultimately somehow it is the poor who had to pay for it.

On modi’s decision, I am happy someone came and took a decision. Not that I haven’t suffered. How that decision will unfold, no one knows. Hittler too said, “Think Thousand times before taking a decision But – After taking decison never turn back even if you get Thousand difficulties”. A decision has been taken and now we need to accept this and hope for good things. Well celebrated leaders have some blood in their hands, Lee Hsien Loong & Gandhi to name a few.

    Regards,

  2. I am not a Modi fan. But you have to give him a chance. India hasn’t had a leader that masses have followed for a while now at top position. And I totally agree with you ” It was a terrible execution of an otherwise good intention decision” Yes he is stubborn probably for not changing course now that we know that execution was terrible. But you have to realise that social media and theatrical is part of modern politics. You also have to realise this government is one of the many few central governments India has had where all the cabinet ministers or most are non corrupt or not have many big corruption scandal attached to it.

Sometime to make changes in large democracy you need a leader that masses will follow and a leader with true and good intension will bring about the change or at least start process to do that. In most cases IMHO i think he is using theatrical to bring about the change as he knows people will follow if he leads as a leader does. His methods might not be correct but not many would doubt his intension.

How many governments in India in past have tried to achieve things or make about social changes that he is trying to make by mobilizing masses I can re call many in last 20-30 years. By using the theatrical he is trying to bring issues to forefront of the Indian masses that people have been taking about but not acting on it. Also one of the biggest ministries that is Defense has a minister who is very capable and non corrupt which again probably hasn’t happen for a while.

Also IMHO he is using his name in app probably because he might have realised that he might have made wrong decision and now he is trying to take blame on him by using his name or by using his goodwill of name to get people to stay on track.

Disc: I, Family and friends too have suffered from this demonetization drive for inconvenience caused. I feel for the people who died because private hospitals didn’t accept old notes.
