DSE IPO and the Imitation Game

DSE Tanzania IPO

A very attractive IPO was listed in Tanzania, a monopoly. It doubled on the listing day, i.e. yesterday.

Worth keeping an eye on it.

Imitation Game

India has been all about imitating the West in the recent three hundred years from Music to Science. One of my experiences, now that I think of it, find it quite strange is that the school that I studied in DPS, Mathura Road used to give out Scholar Badge, which one could stitch on the blazer, thus distinguishing one from have nots. Students over 80% marks were eligible for this badge. Such students were eligible for a blue tie after three consecutive years, and a blue blazer after six years.

One could see by high school who have been academic wizards and academic losers (Blue Blazer vs Green Blazer). This system came from western society and schools.

Thank you DPS for adding to the suicide rate in an already degree and academic qualifications obsessed country.

One wonders the intellectual and emotional quotient of the society that doles out these scholar badges in schools, when the nature itself does not put a visible halo or physical distinctive sign, so others do not feel inferior. There are no physically visible signs to the naked eye for superior personality and achievement of a self realized saint or highly intellectual  being of the human race.

I am glad that my son will have no such inane benchmarks to follow, hope you don’t force your kids into this foolishness.

  2. On imitation game:
Well animals learn from parents to hunt. Humans outsource it to schools & colleges. Teaching methods differ that’s all.

When humans realize value of education as the same as hunting for a living, the stress may not be so high. Unfortunately, the abstractness within which we lead lives covers the very fact we are also just animals.

    • Interesting point you made, animal teach hunting, humans outsource for schooling.

  3. one more example of imitation game n differentiation in acclaimed FLAME university also exist..yes u got it right one of the prestigious n veteran investors n business leader backed FLAME university.
There exist a system of differentiation on monetary basis in the accadmeic level of undergraduation in the hostel facilities provided by them…..those who have high purchasing power can have airconditioned hstel facilites in seperate rooms but for those who dont should go for sharing normal rooms. For common people it seems to b a normal thing. But how can these highly acclaimed investors can bring such unethical thing at youth level…If u just wanted to make money then why at this space of education go back to ur businesses
